About Me

A little bit about me, my background, and this passion of mine: I was born and raised in the beautiful city of  La Paz, Bolivia.  I was left under my grandmother's care until I was eight years old, meanwhile my mom emigrated and started a new life in States.  Although I was in Bolivia for only a few years, it’s always felt like a lifetime of joyful recollections.  La Paz will always hold a dear place in my heart. It's where I grew up and lived a city-life, but also where my grandma taught me the Andean ways along with teachings of the Aymara traditions.  To this day, nothing compares to the sight of the Illimani, an extinct stratovolcano, greeting me every morning.  I still can't get over the city lights  resembling a sky full of stars at night. 

It was the love for my ancestral land and the longing of my childhood, that Inti Phaxsi Gems manifested itself.  Shopping for a unique birthday present for my younger sister, amidst a global pandemic left me with slim pickings.   I decided to pull out my dusty arts and crafts basket.  You see, I’ve been making jewelry for over eleven years, always for fun.  I never imagined my passion would one day turn into a small business.  I decided to make her a necklace using a Bolivian healing leaf.  One Instagram post led to many compliments and friends offering to buy my artwork.  The rest... is history!

My Bolivian roots are something I’ll always be proud of, therefore I’ve decided to use the words Inti and Phaxsi in my business name- as they mean “Sun and Moon” in Aymara.

It was with the support of my family and friends that I felt I could share this joy with all of you.  Thanks for your time and I look forward to continuing to share my artwork with you!
